Today was a day to readjust our view of our trip and gain perspective. We started the day with a late, but hearty breakfast. That juice was awesome and sure to offer some immune boosting effects!!

As previously noted, the eggs in New Zealand are not refrigerated and kept on a shelf in the supermarket and at home. This is because eggs in New Zealand and many other countries are not washed after being laid, and thus maintain a protective cuticle or coating that prevents it from being porous, keeping water and oxygen in and bad bacteria out.
Futile calls were made to travel agents and airlines. Trying not to focus on the fact that we would have been preparing for our next hike on the Hump Ridge Track and greeting Will’s mom, Niccy, Charlotte and cousin Robin, we salvaged the day with social distancing ourselves in and around Te Anua.

A walk to feed the alpacas (initially thought to be llamas), a quick check in at the Department of Conservation office, a walk through a bird sanctuary and a planetary walk along Lake Te Anua offered us some comfort in these uncertain times.

We even practiced our social distancing on a cricket pitch!

After our walk about, the guys played Frisbee and we visited with the alpacas, and Michelle offered them suggestions on improving their hairstyles…hilarious!
Supper was comfort food of pork chops and roasted vegetables, accompanied by the incredible Pinot Noir of the Central Otago region. We caught up on the escalating world news and prepared to drive to Purakaunui the next day.
In the least suspecting place, we found our new perspective:

“The glass is half full….and the other half was delicious.”

Cool blog, I love michelle giving hair advice ! They were very interested in you people ! More beautiful scenery!
