Hasta la Vista Buenos Aires!

Our party of nine arrived at the domestic airport at 6am. We bid a quick farewell to Erin, who was arranging her Antarctic trip in the coming days.

Upon our arrival at the Park Royale Hotel in Buenos Aires, we were given our rooms and said goodbyes to Gary and Gerard who had to make a quick turn around, pick up luggage from the hotel and get to the International airport to catch their flight.

The remaining six quickly dispersed to our rooms. Jody and I crashed for an hour and a half, waking up to shower and catch the continental breakfast. Then we hit the streets to once again explore the city.

The stark contrast from our mountain adventure to stifling warm weather (30 degrees plus), congested streets, cars, and exhaust fumes hit us hard. Finding a pedestrian street we had visited at night for the tango show, we attempted some shopping, however did not find anything worth the effort.

After walking 10,000 plus steps we found a dark pub called Temple and ordered some beers, empanadas and burgers. Service can be slow in South America, so the conversation drifted to the “highs and lows” of the Patagonia In Depth trip. It was great to recount the experience of each travel companion and the highlights of the trip. We topped the lunch off with one final gelato stop.

Sue and Cait were next to leave, catching a 4pm taxi to the airport for their evening flight.

The “Final Four” happy hour was scheduled for 530pm. We shared some final Argentinian beers and wine and discussed everything from finances, fitness, books, podcasts to real estate! We were not sure we were hungry but set out on the streets of Buenos Aires at night to find something. We ended up at the Dada Bistro and scored a table at the back near the kitchen. We shared three plates (shrimp, hummus and giant fries) and then a dulche de leche cake with ice cream. Back at the hotel we booked a taxi for 6am pick up! Hasta la vista baby!
