GAdventures Day 1

We had arranged for a bike tour of the southern part of Buenos Aires, and the tour company, BA Bikes, picked us up from our hotel just after breakfast. As we were checking out, we took all our luggage and stored it at the bike store.

It was a beautiful sunny day. There were thirteen of us on the tour with two guides, Maku and Billy, who had been recently married.

Because it was a large group we had a few problems with traffic lights, …and because we had English and Portuguese speaking participants the stops took quite a bit of time, …and because it was sunny and there is no ozone layer we got sunburnt! But we did see a good portion of the city and learned a bit about history and football rivalries. We were happy to have survived biking around this huge city with crazy drivers and dogs sleeping in bike lanes!

After the tour we grabbed a taxi to our next hotel, Park Royal, where our G Adventures group would meet. We checked in and headed around the corner for a late lunch. We ventured to a mall to help Krystle look for and purchase a few things, as her bag has not arrived from Toronto and we leave on a plane tomorrow to go hiking. O’ Air Canada!

We met up with our Patagonia in Depth group at 7pm. The group consists of the 8 of us plus two others – Robert from Toronto and Erin from New Jersey. We reviewed the itinerary, although we won’t meet our guide, or CEO (Chief Experience Officer), until tomorrow. We learned we’re leaving the hotel at 5:45am for the airport!

Found another place close by for dinner – pea soup with beef, pork and sausage, corn and beans, and empanadas – then back to finish off the wine to lighten tomorrow’s load.
