Our Air Canada flight to Buenos Aires via Toronto was smooth. Hard to believe we flew almost 10,000kms! Had supper, wine (and a gravol) while watching a movie, Leave No Trace, and settled in for a long, turbulent sleep.
After standing in a fairly long line at customs, getting our picture taken and providing a fingerprint, we went to retrieve our luggage. Three-quarters of us were successful, with one bag not making it from Toronto :-(. So a visit to the counter promises for it to be delivered on Saturday, fingers crossed.
We then made our way to the taxi stand and found a sign “Jody Lirtle”!! Lol figuring it was close enough, we made our way to a little taxi van and were on our way thru morning rush hour traffic for 1.5hrs. It was a good exposure to traffic rules, or lack thereof, in Argentina…little use of signal lights or regard for traffic lanes, very brave motorcyclists, and lots of smelly exhaust. At one point our driver made the sign of the cross, and I wondered if it was in hopes of saving his 4 Canadian passengers, but then I saw that we were passing a huge Catholic Cathedral.
We arrived safely at the Eco Suites and met up with our fellow travel companions. We ventured out on the town, in the Palermo district to exchange money (look honey, we’re rich!) get a bite to eat and find some supplies for happy hour! The wine, beer, cheese and bread sticks cost about the equivalent of $25…sweet!
And tonight, we TANGO!!
